Xerox 005-xxx — Document feeder jam family

What this error means

Jams in the document feeder (DADF): an original stuck at a feed sensor. Torn/stapled/curled originals and dirty feed rollers cause most; the subcode says which sensor, but the fix is the same.

Symptoms

• Original stuck in the feeder
• Feeder grabbing multiple pages or none

Try this first (safe DIY steps)

1. Open the DADF cover; remove the original gently in the feed direction
2. Remove staples/clips; flatten curled stacks; don't overfill
3. Wipe the feed rollers with a barely damp lint-free cloth
4. Persistent multi-feeds = worn rollers (cheap service part)

Safety: power off before any physical intervention. Never bypass covers or interlocks — fuser areas run hot enough to burn.
